Proto 2000 GP38-2s

I've heard that the Proto 2000 GP38-2s had dimensional issues (something isn't to scale). At a first glance, I don't see it.

What's wrong with the dimensions of the P2K GP38-2? (HO scale)

I did very quick search.
What I read was it appears to me that the fan placement is wrong which makes the body in accurate.

Also found the following.

"I did find a few additional dimensional shortcomings in the shell. The first is the blower duct, or "dust bin" as it is often referred to. The model's measured out to be approximately a scale 3-3/4 inches too wide. Also, the inertial screen on the left side is approximately a scale 2 inches too long. Finally, the lift rings appear to be a bit oversized when compared with prototype photos. These are relatively minor discrepancies, but are worth making note of. In the current world of high quality, highly detailed, ready to run HO scale locomotive models, it is the details that make the difference to a lot of modelers."

Between the P2K and Atlas Trainman which is more prototypically correct?

Between P2k and the later runs of trainman, the trainman is correct although the details are all molded on.

The first run of trainman had an issue where the shape and size of the nose and cab in relation to each other, and in relation to the unit itself was not correct.
