I have discovered that Dupli Color #1650 Cast Coat Aluminum, does a great job on plastic and metal (semi) trailers. It looks proto, and will not mess up plastic. I painted some Tyco Santa Fe plastic trailers and some 1997 Matchbox Holsten Beer trailers and it turned out well. Not too shiny, not too dull.
I bought this to refinish an alternator on my old car, but it works well in my "other" hobby also!
Thanks for the tip. Where did you pick up this paint?
Do you have any photos to share and like Jim said where can I get some.
Dave
I got it at Advance or Auto Zone, I can't remember, but I think they both have it, also O'Reillys.
Oh, that does look good, Bob. Like you said, just the right amount of sheen without looking like chrome. Have you tried decaling over the painted surface yet?
No decals yet, but I have used it on numerous automotive items, some were masking taped, over sprayed, etc. all with good results.
Cool, got to get me some of that paint since we have an O'Reilly's in town. I'm still ill with them though since they stopped carrying Posi-Tap connectors and now I have to get them off the net again.

Dupli Color is a national brand of auto and truck touch up and refinishing paints. Comes in ready to use spray cans. Just about any auto parts store large or small should have it right on the shelf. Wal Mart used to carry it also.
The factory match colors are great for getting some variety not available in the usual hobby paint brands on scale cars and trucks. Just be careful on plastic as they used to always be lacquer and would attack plastic if laid on too wet.
Good info Mike, I have painted a couple of plastic items recently, and have not had a problem. They must have gone "green" and contain more acrylic these days.
