I was at Wal Mart today and found some cheapo brushes I think are perfect for applying latex or other paint to a scenery base. You'll find them hanging on pegs with all the other regular paint brushes. SHUR LINE - ONE COATER, Artist Brushes; and they come in a plastic bubble pack with 5 brush sizes: #4, #6, 1/4", 1/2" and 1/2" all for $2.97. The 1/4" and one of the 1/2" are natural bristle and the other 3 are nylon bristle. For large areas I use a 1" brush but that is too big and clumsy for close work around rock castings etc. No way I wanted to use my modeling brushes and chance them being damaged when they cost 5 to 8 bucks each. For under 3 bucks a package these Wally World ones are fine and if they get messed up I won't feel bad about tossing them out.
Sometimes at the Dollar Tree's you can get pretty nice brushes in pkgs. of 5 & 7. I also buy the large boxes of throwaway(I clean & reuse mine)paint brushes at Harbor Freight. You get 36 in most cases of the 1" & 2". The other sizes of 3" & 4" are 12 & 24 to a case. These are nice brushes for almost any kind of paints. A case ea. of 1" & 2" will last me about 10 years. When they get hard up close to the handles(wood) I cut the bristles close to the end & use them for saw grass & weeds.
