Outbound Trains

ModelRailroadForums.com is a free Model Railroad Discussion Forum and photo gallery. We cover all scales and sizes of model railroads. Whether you're a master model railroader or just getting started, you'll find something of interest here.

In the Thread 'Silly Question', ModelBob mentions the links to advertisers (including books) so I thought I'd toss this in for any who might be interested.

I just received my copy of Jim Boyd's (Railroad & Railfan) "Outbound Trains, in the era before the mergers" and am about half way through it. The photography is outstanding as Boyd takes us from his beginning in train photography through the years of the now 'Fallen Flags'.

A friend called this an excellent 'Coffee Table' book and it is that, but more importantly to me is the memories of those years in which we moved by rail and the nearest train was just around the bend.

For those who'd like a little nostalgia with their 'coffee' and a walk down memory lane, I recommend it.

I don't know if it is available from the sources in the ads here, but it would be worth checking out.
