On30 anyone?

Built a critter that fits on a Bachmann 44 ton chassis and one on an old AHM MDT.
The big one just needs a little fitting, the power chassis and couplers.
The little one needs a new MDT chassis. It's been sitting so long the motor doesn't work.
Lost interest quickly with On30 and HOn30. I have a lot of HOn30 stuff that's just sitting around also.

Hi everybody, I keep meaning to post ON30 stuff but don't quite get there. When I made this car, my friend said "Hey who shot Bullwinkle" because of the antlers. Looking at it makes me smile. The chimney is really cool but too tall for my tunnels. I made it from Starbucks coffee striir sticks that I stained.

HI Everybody. Here is ON30 therapy for me. I came home from a trip for work that was really and I mean really frustrating. Next morning, I took the day off and sat at my work table with two ON30 Backmann 18' tank cars and no idea what I was going to do. I moved both tanks over to one edge of the flat cars, added a bunch of dynamite boxes (surrounding the highly flammable material in the tank) with plungers on the left car, the guy on the left is leaning on the plunger. He has a cigar that is being lit by an acetylene torch by the guy on the right on another flat car. The guy on the right is also leaning on a belt attached to a one piston plunger which would be really bad for his arm. I weathered the whole thing, stepped back, was surprised at the outcome, and all resentments and anger were gone. Much cheaper than therapy and an indication of how crazy I can get

I was able to 3D print a V1 rocket in 1:48 scale and I put it on a ON30 flat car. It worked out better than I thought. Of course I need a story as to why a V1 rocket could end up on a flat car on a narrow gauge road. A friend helped me out by saying "Barn Find". So, the story: some old guy in the Colorado hills had a barn where he kept/built life size models of things. He passed away and someone went into the barn and lifted up a dusty tarp and found this model. The new guy is shipping it to a war museum. This story gives me cart-blanch to put anything on narrow gauge flat cars. Because of the rustic-ness, I added sacks of corn, the cat, the hobo with the guitar case and the box on the front. Lots of fun. The only frustration is that the propeller on the front of the real rocket is only two blades, I could not 3D print that, so I used a four blade propeller I had :-(

I found out that during WW1, they retrofitted Model Ts with Gatling gun. I found a stl file with it already modeled, so I 3D printed it and put on a ON30 Bachmann flat car. Because it is a barn find that is being transported to a museum, I added the sacks of grain with the boxes of dynamite that was near it in the barn. In WW1, it is likely that it was painted green but Henry Ford said, “Any color the customer wants, as long as it's black” for the color choice of the Model T. So, I painted it black.

Hi everybody, happy new year.
I found a 3D slag-car stl file for N scale. I scaled it up to ON30 and did a 3D print. I painted, added wheels, and couplers. I thought about aging it to add in all the rust. I did not quite get there. A fun little project.

Hi folks. this one was fun to make - just finished it this morning. It is a 3D print of a British Mk II 8 Howitzer from WW1. Another fine barn find being transported to a museum

Hi again. Well the collection is finally over. Bachmann had come out with a flat car with civil war cannons on it - I bought it and aged it. This started a trek in me to have a bunch flat cars carrying cannons of different eras. The trek is over as of this morning when I finished making the WW1 Howitzer. I now have cannons from pirate ships, cannons from the civil war, a mortar from the civil war, and a howitzer from WW1. The story of course is that this is a collection that is being transported to a museum. I wonder what the next obsession will be yves

I found a STL file for this wood-sided Hopper on Thingiverse. I scaled it to ON30 and did a 3D print of a it. I added On30 Bachmann trucks. I put a small spacer to get the couplers at the right height. Worked out pretty nice.

Hi folks. Here is another barn find being transported to a collector. A WW1 Ford made ambulance with a water tank on a ON30 flat car. The ambulance was used by the French during WW1 and is a 1:48 scale kit. For details I added chains and beams with bolts. The hose on top of the water tank is a piece of thin solder that I coiled up and painted green

Hi Folks. I am finding it really hard to find Bachmann 29901 Archbar trucks ("out of stock") - black in pictures below. The ones I find are $20ish. I used a 3D print from Thingiverse by user Professorburnout - print "G-scale Archbar truck". I scaled it down to ON30, made it into a single piece, and added the cylinder in the center for a screw. I used the San Juan ON30 wheels. The cost is about $6 for one car. I can email the stl file in case anyone else would like to 3D print archbar trucks in ON30. Now to paint and age these trucks.

Unfortunately, I have not see them on the Bachmann website or on the trainworld website for a very long time. Bachmann had a second run when they introduced DCC in them but that was short lived.
