You'll fine I'm sure, just take in everything you can and having been involved with model railroading should at least get your feet wet, so to speak.
Lots of difference in many ways I sure but a little background sure doesn't hurt.
The only thing about posting on Facebook is a info gathering group called Spokeo? that gathers a lot of info about individuals of FB so be very cautious about what you say.
This info comes from a friend who works for Naval Intel in San Deigo, Ca. so I'm sure it accurate and even Rex Hea posted something about it.

I wouldn't put anything on a public web site about my private life. Including my job.
just keep in mind that more and more companies are keeping up with their employees social sites online.
What I'm attempting to do with this blog is be informative to anyone who might think of a career on the railroad. I'm sure I'm gonna have bad days on there but I won't make too much of a fuss about it. Like I said I want it to be informative to people who are intrested in railroad and I'll be posting up some pics of neat stuff I get to see along the way. But thank you all for your input, thats why I came here first to you guys. Your always helpful!

Although at first glance it seems like a nice idea, I wouldn't recommend it. Especially starting out new. Some companies take a very dim view of this type of activity. Some of your fellow co-workers might not take to it as well. It's thin ice in my opion and you need to tread carefully here. I am aware of one individual who lost his railroad job because of internet postings.
