Not so standard modular layout

Hi,
We're in the process of moving and my existing 7x10 donut layout is getting taken apart for the move. Benchwork was built and 2" foam was glued down, but no track or scenery had been started yet. Good time to interrupt the process.

Given the opportunity to start over, I'm really considering building a layout that can become modular in case I ever need to move it again. Here are my thoughts. I would plan to build the benchwork using 2' x 4' modules, but attach them together using bolts for a long term set up. Foam base, mountains, roads, track, scenery, etc would ignore the modular divides.

Next time it needs to move, stuff would need to get sliced up, but at least I would be left with a set of 2x4 modules to move. Once reassembled, damage could be repaired.

Here's a drawing of what I'm thinking about. I threw some track on the layout just to get some ideas. I could also add a narrow (maybe 1x4) module to the upper left leg to add some staging area. What do you think?
