Got bored at work so when I went out for lunch I stopped by the LHS and picked up an Athearn GP50 BN with Tiger Stripes and a Hopper :D

I'll post some better pictures when I get home and put her on the layout :)

Very nice! I love to go to the LHS during lunch. But then I don't want to work getting all excited with new toys.

Nice loco Mike, I don't think I have a 50 on my roster.
These were used with the matching fuel tankers in coal service I believe?

Looks great. I am a big fan of the tiger strip. I see BN 3140 around Eola Yard a lot in Aurora IL. Its in the white face paint scheme now, painted around 1992.

I belive that the BN used there GP50's in coal and TOFC service. They also used fuel tenders spliced in between other units for extra fuel.

Well here's what I got after sitting down with the camera and tripod! :D

(Some others I liked in there too )

Some great shots Mike! Now all you need to do is add some MU Cables to that new BN Tiger Strip locomotive and she will be all set for some hard work on the layout :D Im surprised that one didnt come with them factory installed, is it an older run?

Thanks, Josh! You're right it is an older run. No reverse lights and only the cab is light (The actual light bulbs don't light up) that kind of bothered me but I don't know how I'd go about changing it.

Also don't know how to apply details. Never done it before. :o

The GP50 is a RTR version of a Blue Box model. It wouldn't have the newer 1.5v microbulbs or DCC ready.

That's exactly what I was thinking since it makes the notorious BB hum. Is there anyway I could get a different chassis off of a better RTR/Genesis locomotive to replace the shell on?
