I was offered this lot today. Just wondering what your opinions for a fair price on it might be. Just wanted to get an idea. Everything works im told.
Thanks in advance.
Mike.
not the greatest stuff in the world but definitely a start for a basic layout. Not like it'll up and explode on you anyway, haha.

thats what i figured it be something for a start since im just getting back into this hobby. Just thought id try and get some opinions on what a decent price might be to offer.
Been Nothin' Since Frisco
I'd offer $30. I wouldn't go much higher than that, since most of that stuff is worth very little, unless you happen to find a collector looking for exactly what you have.
I agree with the others and that it is worth very little. I think unless budget is the most important thing, that you would be better passing on this opportunity. It could be a disappointment. Spending the same money on a Proto-2000 S-2 for $29 or a Proto-1000 C-Liner for $24 at Trainworld
http://www.trainworld.com/lifelike/lifelike_proto.htm Will be more satisfying.
One of two things are going to happen.
1) You buy this stuff it will work like crap and you'll get frustrated and quit.
2) You'll like the hobby and wonder what you will do with all this crap.
There are some smart buys out there. The S2 mentioned or the S1 switchers are great runners for under $30. Then go to a small local train show and pick up some good inexpensive rolling stock. IF you use flex, track to make the same loop you would get in a set would run about $15. A good used transformer about $25. Now you've got what you need of decent running stuff.
All the pictured purchase will do is show you what you don't want.
Buy the way, I've got a lot of that crap I bought to start. I ran them once. By then I picked up one of those S1s and I could no longer put up with it.
Again if you can get it cheap and want to take the time to sell it off piece meal you will probably make a tidy some to invest in something better!
