Gentlemen,
I recently purchased a GP30 C&O locomtive and after a wire grounding out it shorted out the entire train. My plan is to removed everything in the train and find a dummy GP-30 engine and put in there and make this a display for my soon to be layout. I will open the engine bay doors to show the engine and have people working on it in the engine house. Has anyone seen one of these engines that they can point me to?
Eric
If I understand your question there is a construction article in the October 2010 Railroad Model Craftsman showing how to build a GP-7 with the hood doors open showing what's inside the hood. There is a second article showing the engine house where this engine is parked.
thanks
I appreciate it. I will see if I can get my hands on that article and take a look at it.
Cut the doors off, buy Cannon and co doors, paint/decal them as appropriate for the prototype, take out the motor and drive shafts, buy a Walthers EMD 567 prime mover detail part, paint it green, place it where the motor used to be, and voila!
idea
Well I looked at the local hobby store today and I found the Walthers EMD 567 prime mover. I have disassembled the other engine completely. I need tyo cut the doors and it will be ready to assemble.

Done
Well I got it all assembled today and started the weather process. I think I went alittle over board on the weathering of the engine. I have gotten the doors open to expose the engine a little bit. I have alot more work to do on it but not a bad start at all.
Eric
could you show us some pictures of the project?
pictures
They will not be the best but I will get some up tonight. I want to make this look as if it derailed and is need of repair. I will get some up tonight.

I took the "wrecked" train to the club last night and they liked it. I forgot the pictures. I have been so busy at work that if I dont write down stuff to do then I forget i need to do it. I will get the pictures up soon after i make a gallery.
