Hi Guys,

I need some help. I recently acquired a family friend locomotive collection. Most of which I have no interest in due to it being mostly western railroads (BNSF, SP, SF, MRL [From KATO, Athearn BB, RTR, & Genesis]). I’m more than likely going to be off loading them, however most have DCC Decoders (Digitrax or NCE) installed and I’m wondering if that would limit the market and/or add to the value? Not having bought or sold any locomotives with DCC I’m looking for help here.

Thanks
Tim

Yep...horribly limit the value. I'll give you $20 for the lot :D Just kidding...DCC locos tend to command a higher price, but as with anything it depends on the demand for the unit. Take a look at ebay and compare like DC versus DCC model pricing.

having dcc on board will definitely up the price, and usually more than the price of the decoder since no labor will be needed. The decoders noted earlier will also work on DC or DCC as well. As an experiment try posting one here to see how it sells.
