I'm starting a new n scale layout that will be DCC, and I'm contemplating using the NCE Power Cab. However, someone told me that when you unplug the cab to plug it in another location, the system shuts down temporarily since all the command circuitry is in the throttle itself. Does anyone know if this is true?
Yes, I forgot that, a smart booster will allow the train to keep running, but the power cab will not save the train you were running in memory, os when you plug it back in, you have to re-find your train.
I don't have a power booster but when I unplug the system and unplug the cab then plug it back it again it still remembers the last trains address and all the functions that were turned on/off.
I need to look into the smart booster though, would make things so much easier.
Edit: From the SB3 specs:
