My new Layout

It is coming along nicely. Once a bit of scenery gets started, it makes so much difference. Looking forward to updates. Nice work.

Thanks guys, just finishing up a portal and retaining wall and I'm going to start laying some rockwork.

I wasn't happy with the way this area was going so decided to work in a deep slow moving river which will flow into the port.

After roughing in river base I filled in over the rock which the river will flow from .

And plaster clothed in the banks using glued cardboard strips and basicly crumpled up newspaper or what ever was handy.

I really like the way it is looking now. What did you use to seal the riverbed with and you think it will keep the wet water you add later from running out?

Dave

A bit more of the progress, rock molds applied and I used a brown wash which will mark the locations that vegetation will grow. After the brown wash I applied ground goop and some fine sand/gravel.

The goop

IMG_20160211_155043_zpsxanf6jgo.png

Very nice Lynn
That goop looks disgusting, but I'm sure it going to do the trick.
What's your recipe for the goop already...........I forgot

Thanks Lloyd , goop is 1-cup Celluclay or scuptamold

1-cup Vermiculate

1-cup flat latex paint - earth color

2/3-cup Elmer's white glue or 1/2 cup seems to be enough

I capful /jigger of Lysol Concentrate - disinfectant

Water as needed

Store in airtight container
When I make a batch I will start with 4 cups across the board and add equally.

Still have some work to go but I think I have a good start.

I also tried a couple trees I had kicking around.

I also tried the portal and retaining wall for fit, going to need some work and possibly retaining wall needs shortening.

Thanks guys for the vote of confidence. I do tend to struggle at times trying to make proper decisions. And Chet yes, old dogs can be taught new tricks.

I wish I could make progress as quickly as you do. It's looking really good and I'm waiting for the water installment.
Rick its got to be the total package before I can do the water installment and as of today I'm not sure how I'm going to do the water. Total package meaning Boat Repair needs to be permanent as well as my next installment will show a new bridge I made be put in etc etc etc .

I got the industry track in place and glued down via ground goop.
