1. Make it sectional when possible. I'm from lower New York almost every one wants to move upstate or out of state when they retire.

2. Second deck only. The less supports I see the better.

Coaling Tower

Yes I have one Alcomotive. The layout is in it's 11th year of it's 20 year completion date. The coaling will get done sometime in the future. Right now I trying to build 2 concrete viaducts and I went into the dumb mode while building one of them. I'll have to tear it out and start from scratch. As for the track it's very dependable. Very soon I'm going to post a 2 minute video of that 36 car coal train going around the 20" radius service track curve behind the engine house. Just to show that you don't need wide radius curves to run big trains. I posted this thread because I wanted to make a point that you can have the Model RR you want with out it being built in.

George Anywhere in New york State is no place for the faint of heart Lol . here in Buffalo we have the seventh highest gas prices but the reservation is only a 15 minute ride away go that's where I head for my gas !

Thanks for the posting George it’s good to see how others have successfully created a sectional layout. The first photo you posted looks as it’s the entry way to a yard. Do you have a large yard? 11 years on a 20 year plan and I’m lucky I can plan for tomorrow let alone 20 rail plan :-) Keep up the good work.
