you all have inspired to to do a protoypical lease unit I'm thinking I'm gonna model the LLPX 4405 its the SD40-2 that has "SD40-2" painted in big black letters on each side of the long hood
Some day...
I've picked up a few custom leaser locos off of eBay, but there are others that are really simple to do. We see a lot of leasers down in Central Ohio when we railfan; seems like CSX always runs a leaser on their normal manifest trains. So, it's easy to find pics of the various types out there.
LTEX tends to be the easiest, since they rarely repaint their locos. But, they have a handful of tunnel motors which are in black with a relatively small LTEX on the long hood. So, just spray the whole shell black, and letter.
The lineouts are also easy, especially the ex-UP NREX ones (hey, THEY were the ones getting rid of them!). The CEFX SD-45 carbodies are fairly easy, except for the nose striping in red. I bought one of those off of eBay, seller wanted to know what road number and what color; happened to have a photo of the loco I wanted him to do....

Hey guys. It is finally done! Here are a couple of "finished" shots.
Southern Railway lives on
I like it but I think it needs some weathering.

True. It really does need dirtyed-up a bit, but that is for another day...
