I never would have guessed a figure 8 either if I hadn't already seen your other thread. Neat way to disguise a basic track plan. Looking at your motive power makes me wat to start buying some UP engines again. That was my home road in California for 35 years. I've been buying more CSX/NS/Southern/GM&O pwer because of where I live now but that love of the UP just never gets out of your blood. I've got an A-B-A set of F7's, and SD-24, GP-9, and an SDP-35. I've been debating moving up to some modern power thinking about CSX or NS but seeing that three unit lashup of yours makes me want to get more of that Armour Yellow again.

That why I'm pondering getting rid of this layout and starting over! UP, SF, and SP were my home roads. I was born in San Dimas lived there until i was 6 then lived in Upland till I was 8. Lived here from that time on. I'd like to see it again just wouldn't want to move back! I'm thinking of a 9x11 layout for those beast and a few more I'd like to get! I got a old Con-Cor U50 that looks good draging things around:)

Chris,
You're from the same area I was in. Lived in Baldwin Park and then Diamond Bar for about 10 years before I couldn't take LA any longer and moved to Northern California. I don't know how old you are but I was an LASO deputy and worked out of San Dimas station for about a year in 1972. I always managed to get some railfanning in on those long night shifts. :) I made friends with a couple of UP and SP Special Agents and managed to get a few cab rides including one on a Farmer John train running empty east from Pomona to Summit with four SD-24's at the point. Those were the days. {sigh}
