Hi everyone. I am thinking of starting a 4x8 or 5x9 ho layout. I only have bachmann ez track from a couple train sets that I bought. I was wondering if anyone knows if it is possible to seperate the ties and the rail from that fake unrealistic looking plastic black roadbed. Looking at the track it looks possible but I don't want to damage anything. Thanks.

You can take it off, but it is hard to put back. Seel the EZ on eBay and use the money to buy flex. You'll be better off all around. (if you sell it right after Christmas, you can get top dollar for it because everyone gets Bachman sets and want to expand.

If it's the steel rail on black roadbed it's rather easy. Slip the end of a flat tip screwdriver under the ties at one end and gently push toward the other end. It's a bit harder with the nickel-silver on gray7 roadbed, but the technique is the same.
