I'm trying to build a little collection of freight cars that are lettered for model railroads. To facilitate that, I'd like some help building a list of model railroads that have had their custom roadname cars offered commercially. Two examples off the top of my head are the Ohio Southern and the Virginian & Ohio. Examples should ideally be things that I might have a prayer of actually finding on the auction site or at train shows. Any help?

John Allen's well publicised Gorre & Daphetid is available as a 40' stock car through an ad in the magazines. Jeffery has one and has pics of it on here.

Many of the clubs have offerings of special run cars with their road name. Some advertise in the mags but most have them for sale at their open house shows.

You might want to check Atlas' web site under special runs. They are commissioned by clubs or historical societies and not sold by Atlas so you'd have to contact the outfit who had them made in order to buy one.

Anniversary cars have been offered by Model Railroader and the NMRA.

Majority of those cars are HO scale.

East Broad Top isn't a model railroad. The original poster is asking about relatively well-known free-lance model railroads that have had cars actually commercially produced in their lettering as a custom run from a manufacturer.

Opps.. "Ohio Southern and the Virginian & Ohio" sounded like prototype RR's, so I misunderstood.
Thanks for clarifying.

I have the complete G&D series of cars from MDC, also several cars from others like the V&O, Allegheny Midland, Ohio Southern hopper car set from Train Miniature. Several other makers have released individual cars as well, such as Red Caboose, and Intermountain, G&D, V&O. I know that beside these that I have some from Don Mitchell's old layout, IIRC the DD&W. I have others but would have to go through them all to find the other custom layout cars.
