Can anyone recommend some user friendly software for the Mac to design a layout? It would be great if it was cross platform, but it has to be at least Mac friendly.
I'm not a Mac guy but the only software I know of is Railmodeller at http://www.railmodeller.com/. The reports I've gotten from friends with Macs is that it's a pretty good program but it's British and some of the design elements have British influence you'll have to filter through. There's no free software I'm aware of.
(I've only used HO gauge; EE v1.6.1; on OSX Tiger; 2d only; not cross platform)
EE is useable for G-0-HO-N-Z gauge with standard track components from several manufacturers;
now at v2.0.1 "OK for Leopard"; registration of FREE trial copy is $34.95.

EE is a great program and i love it. Its very easy to use. It also looks similar to what MR uses in there layout articles.
The single track line makes the plan appear very clear and easy to follow and keeps the plan less cluttered. All in all, best $35 i ever spent for a track planning program, i couldnt be happier with it
