Hi guys!

I was at a new ma & pa train store a couple of days ago and I was looking for some glue. Normally I use stuff like Tenax or Testors' tube glue. I was looking for the Testors stuff but, not finding any, I asked the guy behind the counter for help. He recommended Ambroid's FAS'N ALL and he said it's what he uses all the time. I was sort of in a rush so I bought it without asking too many questions but I figured if it's Ambroid, it must be alright. Before I try using this stuff, has anyone ever used it to bond plastic? What are your thoughts on it? Does it sand well? I see that Ambroid makes a whole line of cements but I just wanted to make sure I got the right stuff.

Thanks for your help and advice!

Eric

I prefer the liquid solvent cements for plastic like Testors or Plastruct. A lot neater finish and you can hold the 2 parts together and just brush along the seam or place a tiny dab on smaller pieces. It will wick itself into the joint by capillary action. It will not fill in voids and gaps like the tube glues but I believe when used correctly it makes for a much stronger joint. Apply very sparingly onto painted parts as it will ruin most paints it comes in contact with. For mixed materials like plastic to metal Ambroid or Walthers Goo work pretty well but the CA instant adhesives are even better.

Thanks Mike!

I figured the liquid stuff was similar to the Tenax I use. Just dab/brush it on the seam and let capilary action take care of the rest. I was just wondering if the FAS'N ALL stuff I bought was similar to something like the Testors tube glue. Basically I'm wondering if the FAS'N All will weld the plastic together or if it's just a contact cement like Elmers.

Thanks!

Eric

Read the label & instructions, It will tell you more than we can. i've never used it or even heard of it. Like the others have said, the liquid works best on most plastics, & is also MUCH neater. Tenax is my choice.

Eric, FAS'N All is Amboid's version of Walther's Goo. It's a good general purpose cement for things like scenery or porous material like cloth or leather. I've used it to glue rock molds into plaster and it works well. For building plastics kits, it wouldn't be a good choice since it does not weld plastic like Testor's or Tenax. It's essentially rubber cement so there are much better products for plastic kits. It does have it's uses for wood kits though, especially for things like shingles.
