Anybody know the quality of these trains?
My only experience has been with Athearn Genesis Steamers and MTH Steamers and Diesels.
I just got some Broadway Limited AC6000's and I was a little disappointed with the flimsy plastic rails that came on it.
I recently saw that Intermountain is coming out with some ES44's late this year.
I wanted to get some on order, but was wondering about their quality.
I love the new MTH diesels, so if the quality is comparable, I will order some.
Thank You

Intermountain is in the same quality category as Athearn Genesis and AtlasGold models. They make good running, well detailed engines. The sound version comes equipped with a Tsunami decoder. Intermountain is known for doing a good job with details that match the prototype and railroad compared to MTH, which doesn't do as good a job in this area. I think the Tsunami is the best sound decoder on the market and also does a better job than the MTH decoders. I obviously haven't seen the model yet but Intermountain tends to be very good about making scale size details, like ditch lights, rather than the oversize hunks of plastic on the recent MTH SD70ACe model. The handrails should be about the same as the ones used by MTH. The list price is about the same as the MTH SD70ACe, but the street price should be about $50 less. I would buy one if I was in the market for one.

Good to know. I will definitely put a few on order then.
Thank You.

Their RTR cars are good as well. There are some of their car kits still floating around in stores and on E-bay. They did have some problems with their trucks, but they started using one piece trucks instead of the 3 or 4 piece truck kit that always seemed to start falling apart after a few months.

Like Jim said, Intermountain is very well known for the great quality in its locomotives and as CJ said its RTR cars as well. Intermountain does ALOT of detail specific items, which alot of manufactures choose not to do. This in turn makes Intermountain stand out even more because they really do care and pay attention to the roadname specific details, which is a must for the detail freaks (which im afraid im rapidly becoming one of them :D).

The ES44AC's and ES44DC's are a HUGE hit for Intermountain right now, and with the roadname detail specific additions, they are selling out very quickly. Ive got 31 of these locomotives on order at this time, most for customers who have requested me to reserve them for them, but I do have quite a few of them on order for myself too hehe :D

I have only purchased one Intermountain engine and while impressed with the detail, they were a bit off on the color. I bought the P&W U18. P&W use a very unigue color for brown and while Atlas and Athearn have come close (Atlas more so), Intermountain was not close at all. They used brown and I mean, brown. Way to light for for the prototype.

I was thinking of ordering a few from wholesaletrains.com.
Are they any good for pre-order stuff?
Are you still taking any pre-orders?
Thanks.

I am still taking pre-orders on the IM ES44AC's and ES44DC's. DCC/SOUND units are $194.96 and DCC Only units are $134.96. If your interested in having me pre-order some of them for you, PM me with the descriptions of each or the Item Numbers. And remember, I dont charge you to pre-order :)
