Finally made some progress and have the outer track put in place. Moving the inclines is a pain each time.
Wow! Really coming along nicely. Finally made some progress and have the outer track put in place. Moving the inclines is a pain each time.

So much better than the straight tracks along the edge of the benchwork that you started with! Finally made some progress and have the outer track put in place. Moving the inclines is a pain each time.

Thanks, I have to add railings still and trim more near the rudder as I made the rudder longer than originally planned after sea trials.
thanks my friend!Looking great, well done.
thanks, I listen to all of you for the great advice!Nice sweeping mainline!
so well said! Thanks always for your guidance! I have had to give and take in several areas and still debate to this day about the inclines, but that I what I had my mind set to…..lol.But what I want to say to everyone designing a layout, don't just take the first thing you come up with.
It really isn't about how high the bar is. It's about how long the bar is and how you define it.You have set a high bar, I have a long way to go.
I was so glad in the posts between #30 and #50 that you started suggesting pushing it more towards a water wings, which of course further morphed into what you have. It was at that point I figured you were open to more substantial changes. My philosophy when I am helping someone is to, "answer the question they ask", then maybe make tiny hints at design improvements. I am not a fan of someone asking a question and having everyone jump on them with monstrous changes of how they would do it. I like to let the OP have the realizations themselves, then ask the questions toward that new realization and evolve in that way. Makes me happy.BigGRacing said:Iron Horseman said:But what I want to say to everyone designing a layout, don't just take the first thing you come up with.

I am learning every day, thanks to you and several others on the forums. Even noticed the difference in height the other night (I believe that @Smudge617 touched on it) about the different heights of rails. A slight height difference between my Peco turnouts and the Atlas rail. I will have to do some filing eventually. Everything running over it so far…..but just in case.I was so glad in the posts between #30 and #50 that you started suggesting pushing it more towards a water wings, which of course further morphed into what you have. P.S. I am also happy you used sectional track. This proves one can get a good layout without it.
Me too. Too much out there for a person to know it all. A week ago I had no idea Peco turnouts point rails were ferrous, and could be manipulated with a magnet.I am learning every day
