how well do these run are they noisey? the one i'm looking at buying has the kd couplers installed so i belive this is a later model.

The ones with the body mounted couplers (no wide slot in the pilots) run OK. A bit noisy, but will smooth out over time.
 
He's asking about a GP50...

The Bachmann GP50 has better details than the blue box model (I know, shocking, right?)
