Hey I am new to the forum and have just started taking up model railroading as a hobby. I have a Bachmann EZ Track Pack to start things off. The track sets up great and the train runs great, but I have a quick question. The switcher track came with a green wire attached to it and there is a switch and some other green wires as well as red wires in the pack. My question is, how do you set up the toggle switch to control the switcher track electronically rather than manually. Thanks for any help in advance!
Green wire from turnout (switch track) connects to the 3 terminal port on the switch box. The 2 wire connector of the red wire connects to the 2 terminal port of the switch box and the ends of the red wire from the switch box to your AC accessory power source. Do not connect it to DC power. It will damage the switch machine. To hook up more than one switch only one has to have the red wire connected to it. The other switch box(es) can connect to the first one. Just push them together.
Thanks for the fast response jeff! So just to clarify (since I'm clueless with wiring) do I need to splice or solder anything or is it just a matter of connecting the wires?
OK, sounds easy enough. When you are talking about the AC power instead of the DC power, do I need to have some sort of transformer? The track has the EZ Command center and the power pack that gives it power. Just trying to figure out if I need something else. Thanks again Jeff, your response has been much appreciated
A standard trainset power pack like the one pictured below will be enough, or if you have an old trainset power pack laying around it would likely work as well. Just connect the red wires from the turnout controller to the AC terminals.
