I'm new to this forum and I hate to sound like an idiot right off the bat but could someone explain to me what I hook up the LT-1 to?
Do I hook it up to the motor on the engine or someplace else.
Any help would greatly be appreciated.
Thanks in advance,
Harry

An LT1 has two uses, testing decoders and wire harnesses.

To test a decoder you have to connect the decoder's red wire to the resistor supplied with the LT1, and the resistor to the right rail. Connect the black wire to the left rail. Then connect the gray wire to the black and green wires from the wire harness supplied with the LT1 and connect the orange wire to the red and yellow wires on the harness. Use your throttle to select the decoder and throttle up. One of the LEDs on the LT1 will light up to tell you it is good. Switch direction and a different LED will light. You can also test functions on the decoder by connecting the blue wire on the decoder to the black and green wires on the harness and the wire of the function you want to test to the red and yellow wire. Turn the function on and an LED on the LT1 will light.

To test a wire harness, connect one end of the wire harness to a powered LocoNet plug and the other end into the LT1. All four LEDs on the LT1 should light up if the harness is good.

You can get the complete instructions from Digitrax here: http://www.digitrax.com/prd_lt1.php

Thanks for your help.
Turns out I didn't need to use it after all.
It was the shell of the engine pushing down on the decoder.
