Hello train people. I recently got a bunch of trains from a friend whos father died. I dont know that much about trains, except things like n scale ho scale etc. I have quite a few peices in different scales. I hope to show some more of them in the following days. This first one is what appears to be a santa fe engine of some type.It is about 10 inches long. It says santa fe on the side with the numbers m.131 on the side. is in excellent condition. On the bottom of the train it says bachman china. How old is this train? What was it used for? is there any value to this train? Thanks in advance train people

That's a gas electric commonly called a Doodlebug. It was a self-propelled passenger car. Some roads also added a coach which it pulled.

Not to go off topic, but evertime I see one of those it reminds me of the very horrifying photos I seen from when a doodlebug rear ended a freight train somewhere around here back in the 40's or 50's. I beleive everyone on board was killed.
