Help me find a station

Wow thanks for all that info! I didnt think it was that long but that is really good to hear because that is what we are going for. I know it was european, but you are right it can easily be tweaked into american, which is what we are going to do, and we were planning on extending the platform anyway so that will work out nicely. Ok well I think I am sold on this one lol

Glad I'm not the only one with this dilemma! I'm in the planning stages of the layout v4.0 given the little bit of extra space I've got now I want to go for a more substantial station.

Trouble is, they're either too small or way too big.
This one from Kibri is stunning...

...but if I've got my conversion right its nearly 3'

Placement is an issue, especially with Walther's Union St. (which I'm also contemplating) as if its placed correctly all I'll end up seeing is its rather plain backside. So I'm toying with having the building over the tracks.

But is that a good idea or a bad idea?

Looks like I am too in the same boat when it comes to a station. So man y to choose from but nothing seems to stand out as to what I am looking for.

Mark,

That's a very good idea, very cool solution.

Take a look at the Passenger Concourse Structure, by CMR. That might be just what you need. It looks like a well designed kit.

Apparently the guy who owns CMR has built structures for Rod Stewart.

This station, also by Vollmer appears to be basically a smaller version of the same station sharing alot of the same walls and roof trim. With that in mind, it looks like the back walls facing track side are just as interesting as the front walls facing the street.
Of course, much of the interesting visual effect of the 31" long building is lost with the shorter 21" long version.

Mike,

Since you're using the Hiawatha shed, why not use the station as well and just cut it in half?

Woah now there's an idea. Thanks! :) 'course it has a knock on affect with some of the scenery, (town has to be elevated) but that's not a huge problem.

Yeah, it sort of looks like a separate part of the same station facility. And its not too shabby as a stand alone piece. However if its a matter of just 10" between them then its hard not to go for the larger one.

Although it looks like they've got the measurements the wrong way around on the site though. Baden-Baden (the larger one) is 780mm but Nordsadt is 1070mm.
Stupid metric system.
