Hello from England

I have been a member here for a while (but lapsed for last few years). I cannot access my old account, so thought that as I am starting a new layout I would start a new account in my own name!

A native of England, we have lived in Slovenia for four years, where I built a Slovenian HO layout. Now back in the UK I am starting an American HO switching layout. Hopefully the story of my new layout will be of interest here as I document construction and operation in the HO forum. Hopefully I will pick up some tips and suggestions.

After building model trains in most scales and different country prototypes I have settled on US HO scale for my (final) layout! My previous activities can be found here: http://www.andersley.co.uk/aboutme.html

I tried this website and Norton told me there was an intrusion attempt from this site.
Alan, please check your site for Black Top Tool Kit.

Hello Alan,
Glad to have you back on the forums. HO does offer probably the broadest selection of equipment in a scale the fairly easy to see detail yet small enough not to take hugh amounts of space. As I somewhat mentioned to Mud Pie, a free standing around the wall layout makes reaching most parts of the layout a lot easier so it a lot more enjoyable to work on things. I'd also suggest doing something in an L shape as it offers various views of the train operation and helps to seperates the various areas of the layout.

See you around the forums,

David

G'day Alan...Great to have you return to the forum..I'll bet it's like meeting up with an old friend after a long time...I'm in Tasmania , Australia...I promise I won't mention the Ashes to you too much....I'm kind of the same re American HO....so much scope , great value for items...and so many different ways to go...I'm doing a BNSF intermodal concept with the switching to be done in the intermodal yard eventually..If you're returning , there's no need to tell you how great this forum is...You already know that...Just curious , how's your knowledge on Hornby...there's several great threads on this iconic British model rail company..... 5-0...oops I promise that's the only time I mention it..Cheers Rod...

Sorry, know almost nothing of Hornby. Not modelled British trains for about 40 years, except for a brief time about 15 years ago. (Done lots of other countries though!)

Er....... what are the ashes?........ ;)
