in the Spartan Cab, were few available from Athearn or were they produced in numbers like the other road names in thr SD70M. I would like to pick one up as I missed the boat on them when they were available. I have been picking up 70M's at a reasonable price on ebay and just want a gauge on there demand specific to Norfork Southern. I just have not seen any around....
Thanks
i've wanted to pick up those ebay 70's aswell.
Are you asking about how many did NS order and recieve from Conrail also?
Or, are you asking about Athearns production run of the spartan cab sd70's in NS scheme?
To answer the first part: 80 total spartan units, 57 ordered and 23 from Conrail
for the second part: Athearns production run of the spartan cabs was very good, But I like you waited too long also to pick them up and had to go to a dealer and get them for $70 @ with only 2 avail numbers. But I did get 2 of each number and with a little ingenuity, was able to change the road numbers easily. 2553 became 2558 and 2537 became 2527.
There's three Spartan cab SD70's, IC, NS & Conrail. Look for Conrail or NS versions... If you buy undec.
