Northern Pacific A5 2682 is climbing the hill from Bear Creek to Oak Hill on Charlie Comstock's BCSJ railroad. Shown here it is crossing the big bridge across Lower Bear Creek.
2682 is one of 75 brass A5s built by Daiyoung in 1983 for Oriental. I got it at an estate sale years ago with a broken gear box. I fixed it but don't have big enough curves for it to not short out as big brass is want to do. Charlie graciously let me let her stretch her legs on his 40" min radius curves. The gearbox and mechanism is silky smooth but the pickup and wheel gauge left a bit to be desired. Hopefully, she won't sit on the shelf looking pretty for another 15 years before her next outing.
Charlie also made a video of us messing around:
Some of the noise in the video is because the rear axle of the trailing truck is not parallel with the other axle in the truck. It is sort of pushed against the rail an makes a grinding noise. The tender is an empty brass sound box just waiting for a deep base speaker.

Its a dreary april 29, 2023 and a southbound Silverliner IV set is approaching Prospect Park just south of Philadelphia. Classic 1974-75 Silverliners are the oldest electric equipment working former Pennsy lines today;
The catenary instalation here dates to 1928 and the signal bridge was probably installed about the same time. Here is the other end:

Here's AMTK 662, a Siemens ACS-64, leading a northbound Northeast Regional into Baltimore Marshall Airport Station on June 4. I had to go to Washington DC for a few days that week for some work on the Hill, but the flights into DCA were all full. So I did what I've done before and enjoy, fly into Baltimore and take the train from the BWI station right into Washington Union Station. A few minutes after I took this picture, I caught the next southbound Regional, which was being pulled by AMTK 638 that day.

It's been raining here in Lancaster County now for a few hours and nothing like steam in the rain:
As the Candian mogul was coming toward me i heard the air horn of westbound "Keystone Service" to Harrisburg. Hoping to catch both tractions in one shot i held the camera slightly rotating to the right. Finally my first shot of Strasburg steam with an electric, both engines doing what they were build for
