I recently got the CMX cleaning car. I used it for the first time last night.

All I can say is wow!, this thing is great!

I used nail polish remover. This is probably the cleanest my track has ever been.

The time and labor involved when I used to clean the rails with a rag. Was a real pain.

I recommend it to anyone with a decent sized layout. I'm very happy with my purchase.

Yes. Just make certain you don't let the "cleaning train" stop so that the CMX car just drips in one spot and puddles. Nail Polish remover is basically acetone and will eat Atlas plastic ties for lunch. Happened at the club I used to belong to.

Any solvent based cleaner will do that. Still the solvents will beat alcohol.

Sounds like the Aztec cleaning car. It had a wet pad, a magnet and a small battery operated vacuum in it. Being so small the vacuum wasn't that good. My club has a couple of them.

the club i visit has 2 of those cmx cars being pushed by a some sort of alco and then 3 cars that have rolls of paper or some sort of cloth that roll on the rails.
