Dual mode (DC/DCC) sound?

I noticed a review in MR on an HO switcher that comes with a dual-mode sound board. I'm running DC for now and I'm curious if anybody has experience running dual-mode engines on DC and eventually switching to DCC. Good, bad, sound quality, etc.

The review did say that DC only has prime mover revs and a bell on less than 5 scale mph.

Thanks.

The duel mode engines run just fine on DC. They will run a bit slower than your DC only engines as the decoder and sound take up more power to get moving..
If you are refering to the Bachmann engines they us Soundtraxx system for sound. They will do OK but the sounds and any programing for changes will be limited until you go DCC.
You can get an MRC black Box for more sound but still has no programing.
You could get the MRC Tech 6 that is a basic DCC controller for programimng and sound.
Shop around they can be had for less than $95.00.
If you are talking Atlas or Broadway Limited then it is a whole different story.
