Double Crossover power

OK, another rookie question here. I've got a Shinohara double crossover for my layout. I'm just working on sections at this point. I'm getting to the point where I can roll a train back across the switch and right at the half way point she stops. So my question is, do those switches need power to both sides? Or is something wrong with the crossover switch? If it helps the visualization, I've got the dead side just going to a dead end track.

Another question is, how would I upload a picture of it within the body of a post like I've seen in some of the other threads? As always, looking forward to hearing what you all have to say.

All ends of the crossover have to be powered, to have it function properly.

After a quick search on "uploading photos" I found this in a post from almost a year ago. This is using photobucket as a host site, (which is what I use), and there are others, like flicker, tinypic.com, but Ed said it so much better than I could.

1. Get a Photobucket account if you don't have one .. http://photobucket.com/
2. Upload photo to Photobucket
3 - either ..
a. Admire the photo on photobucket .. copy the URL and then click the symbol in the reply box that looks like a yellow square with a mountain .. and paste the URL in
b. on photobucket just click and copy where it says code and paste that as a link[/QUOTE]

PS, most hosting sites will do basic hosting for free.

My 02c - I put pix directly into the post - No need for anything to be external to this site - Click on "go advanced" (just below this quick reply window), scroll down a little and there's a "manage attachments" box - Click that and then "upload image" and tell it where your image(s) are stored. Click upload, and you're done :)

Cheers,
Ian

Here's how I plan to wire my double x-over.
- Using AC power to activate the 4 switch machines and the Snap Relay.
- The Snap Realy will flip/flop the frog power in sync with the switch positions (straight or crossed over).
- And I'll be using two DC power packs to control the inside loop and outside loop independently. Will need to make sure they have the same polarity and voltage when I'm in crossover mode.

As for uploading pics, just attach them to the post. No need to link to photobucket or other sources.
