Dash 9 on EMD trucks?

I was looking at a c44-9w I got from Larry earlier and I notice that it has EMD trucks. Does anyone know if any dash 9's have emd trucks like this

Jamie, I haven't seen any, but that doesn't mean there aren't any. I've only seen them in service with either the "roller blade" trucks or the "steerable" trucks... In this case, it might be a set of "shop trucks" that got put under a unit while its trucks were out being repaired or rebuilt. I've even seen Dash 9's with Bettendorf freight trucks under them. Obviously they weren't being operated.

Those are definitely EMD HTC trucks.

All Dash 9s have Hi-Ad trucks.

The standard Athearn trucks do not have the same pin distance as the sideframes Hi-Ad trucks on the Dash 9 series, suggesting that those trucks are not original to the engine.

Interesting trucks on the prototypes can be explained:

Jamie, it is possible. There is a prototype for everything. If the railroad used the EMD trucks for trade in's, then that's what it would have on it.

Here's ALCO trucks on an EMD engine.

And my personal favorite!!!! ;)

The Alco trucks on the EMD engines aren't exclusivey Alco trucks. They were AAR trucks. The early SW series switchers had them.

The EMD trucks on the GE engines are modified EMD Blombergs. I don't remember the reason why they used them, but they had to extensively mod the truck bolsters because EMD specifically built the trucks to use their traction motors to sell their own motors (GE traction motors were considered "better" at the time). They had to adjust them to install the larger GE traction motors. These days, all trucks are built to accept any brand of traction motor.

The genset has GE trucks because the genset was built on a frame donated by a B30-7. NRE simply reused the trucks and traction motors.

I have no idea why those engines have mismatched trucks...

I like your personal favorite as well! Imagine modelling that in HO scale! All you need are sprung kadee trucks, remove the springs, and voila!

All CSX C44-9`s have Dash 8 type Trucks .
Welcome to the forum. I also remember CSX's C44-9Ws are in the Dash 8 carbody, or something between a dash 8 and dash 9. They don't really look like Dash 9's. I've been fooled by them, unless I'm close enough to read the label...

While we're picking nits, your locomotive is a C40-9W. They are externally the same appearance, but have an override switch omitted so they only generate 4,000 hp.

Yes, the CSX Dash 9s are in Dash 8 carbodies. The spotting difference is that horizontal air intake grill behind the cab. On a Dash 8, the long grill is right behind the two square grills On a Dash 9, the long grill is behind two raised bumps which are behind the two square grills. The CSX Dash 9s are arranged like the Dash 8.

Internally, the Dash 9 is a Dash 8 with newer electrical systems. The AC4400CW is a Dash 9 with AC traction motors.

True, but they have no external differences. Also the C40-9W lights are mounted up by the cab, not the nose. No one makes a correct plastic model

No one makes a correct plastic model because NS likes to high-mount everything. Headlights always above cab windshields, ditch lights always deck mounted. The only exception is the gensets, in which NRE did not offer a high mount ditch light option, and the ex-conrail units (if it isn't broken, don't fix it!)

BNSF is the exact opposite. They like nose mounted headlights on everything with the exception of the engines built before the formation of BNSF.
