CSX grey.... and blue

I've seen CSX locos in grey and blue. Why the difference? You're not going to tell me ones Union and the other Confederate, eh?:D
 
CSX painted their locos in a variety of experimental schemes in the 1980's, until they finally settled on the gray-blue-yellow YN2 "Bright Future" scheme in 1989. That's what they used until 2002, when they changed over to the solid blue with deep yellow YN3 scheme. The gray ones simply haven't been repainted or scrapped yet.

I really liked/still do like the blue and grey scheme, if im not mistaken, i believe they called it the "Stealth" Scheme
 


ahhhh yes, I musta got the 2 mixed up, both of them are similar lol. I have a Athearn RTR SD60 in the Stealth Scheme. Even though the Blue and Gray scheme is my favorite paint scheme for CSX, i just realized i dont have any CSX locos in the scheme :eek: I need to fix this lol
 
I swear, the CSX must have had some group that was dedicated to coming up with a new paint scheme every month. Some locomotives went through five repaintings in seven years. I'm glad they finally seem to have settled on something. It's about the only railroad that you can date your layout by month as well as year by having a locomotive of a certain color scheme. :)
 
(Rant) i still don't under stand why bother painting something and waist the $$$ If'n your just let the rust and road grime eat away at it making it look like heck anyways.......Just a pet peeve of mine. I would like to see them adopt the silver and purple scheme of ACL, that would look nice! JMO.

I like that paint scheme to Tankist!! I like how they labeled the locomotives that have a/c (alternating currents) with lightning bolts next to the numbers.
 
Im actually building my first "from scratch" loco, making it a blue-gray, or "stripe" paint scheme. I will post some pics up tonight. its my favorite scheme and falls right in line with the era that I am modeling.
 
I like both the YN2 and the YN3 schemes although, I would have to give it the YN2 scheme as my favorite. Probably should find one for my own collection too. :) A little CSX could look good here and there.
 
Yuck! I'm sure that probably was one of the early CSX test color schemes. They had about four different ones running around at one time.
