codes other then 100 and 83?

it looks like majority of RR is modeled with code100 rail for lower price and compatability with older locos or code 83 being more expensive and prototypical option.
what is the story with other codes? i see older code 70 and 75 shinohara and peco stuff respectively on ebay all the time. are those things of the past or ?
is it usable with current models
(working with it obviously will require shimming and soldering to get smooth joint.)
 
Code 70 rail is good for industrial spurs and such like that. Ill be using all Code 70 Rail on my M&ET layout and modules, and Code 83 for the BNSF Mainline and BNSF/M&ET Interchange Yard.

Code 70 just makes it a little more realistic when modeling rails in and around structures and industrial districts
