CN loco with piston shot out of engine

Thats got to be a 6-10 inch hole in the roof! Holy crap. I bet someone is going to get a check from CN pretty soon though...
 


that's a badass... i probably would be pissed somewhat but if no one is hurt and no loss caused to unrepeatable stuff, i guess it is not as bad - either insurance or RR will cover it and more. i would think CN will spend more on repairing that engine then it had to pay for the house repair.

i would want to keep the souvenir. pistons are neat. friend has one out of D9 Cat bulldozer cut in half used to keep books upright on the shelf. most impressive
 
I have a piston out of a Mack Diesel. I put it out on display on my entranceway table. it holds my keys and louse change very nicely. Heck I even have a 65' Cadillac " V " hood emblem mounted on my wall in the living room. LOL
 
Huh. Until I saw the actual picture, I thought it was going to be a steam engine. They had some spectacular failures too.
 
damm! that must've been one hell of a sound when that happened. Anyone know what the distance was from the train to the house?
 
Boy, that would make an interesting homeowner's insurance report. :) It looks like the house was on the street across the track, but I'd guess it was at least a hundred feet in the air before it hit the roof, judging by the angle of attack on the interior.
 


i got a melted piston out of a 8000 hp top fuel dragster
blower burped at half track. the driver was selling all 8
after the race.. not a big a boom as that CN unit must of made
