I have some Atlas engines ( GP 40 and MP 15 ) and want to change couplers from accumate to Kadee. I noticed the coupler box goes right into the bumper front and back on both engines. If I remove the screw from the coupler box will the coupler box lid just slide out to change the coupler or will the bumpers impede the box lid from coming out? If the lid just slides out should be a simple procedure, that's what I'm hoping. Has anyone changed couplers on these engines, is it simple, or do the bumpers have to be removed as well? Thought I'd ask before attempting. Thanks.
Just removed the screws then slide the coupler boxes out of the bumpers. Then they will seperate and you replace the couplers with desired ones. Put the box back together and slide it back into the bumper and replace the screw in the box to secure it to the engine one again. Remember after replacing the couplers you need to check the height to make sure they fit properly and they are at the correct height.

Atlas engines are always at the correct height. When putting the coupler pocket back on, watch out for the brake hose. Sometimes, it gets caught on the lip of the coupler pocket.
thanks
