I have this Santa Fe Loco.. The number is 1001 however, I don't think there ever was a 1001 Santa Fe, so maybe its a made up one.

What I would like to know though if its a SD40. I have been trying to indentify it by looking at pictures but I cannot find a SD 40 that matches this one so it may not be a SD40 at all. I also looked at SD45 pics, and still no match.

I have mainly been looking for a loco that has the same fan locations on the top rear. All have three large fans on the rear and 2 in the middle, but this one has only 2 large, with a smaller one inbetween. See pics.

Could someone help me out please?

Please Delete thread. I found it is a SD35.

Can someone tell me though if a 1001 was actually used in service. Thanks.
 


Just because it wasn't a real Santa Fe engine doesn't mean it's not able to be. Remember, on your rails, it is what you want it to be!
