Building the Walthers Ashland Rolling Mill - Round Two

Very nice Josh! I have some pics to put up once I get to resizing them...
And by the way, could you please stop posting pictures with green grass and leaves in the background? My office looks out onto a snow filled yard and you're depressing me. :)

you know he could dress it up with snow ;)

OP: can you make custom buildings like for example a police or fire house? if its possible to do custom work from the ground up I may have some contract work to do :) as I got a few buildings I want but can't find and im not sure if I could do the fabbing my self...

Well I sifted thru some of the mill photos and here's what's left.
(taken with the company phone on various days)

1) One of the mill switchers, they have two, yellow and red. Both ex CPR
2) Fueling up between shifts
3) One of many mill cars, notice the switching platforms added on
4) Another car with a load. These cars are destined for the scrap yard across the tracks and are used untill they wheels fall off. Any roadname you can think of can be found here!

1) an open cab loader removes slag from under the laddles
2) another shot, what you can't see is the chainmail on the tires
3) a hot steamy pile o' slag
4) an Ohio crane, haven't seen it move in a while

1) some hot billets fresh from the mill
2) more billets cooling in the yard, they sit on other billets as wood would burn
3) newer billet storage with markings
4) older billets ready for shipping

1) mandrills and a roller headed for machining (the larger one weighs over 20,000 lbs!)
2) mandrills in storage racks
3) misc parts on storage racks
4) one of the laddles from the melt shop

1) various cylinders in a rack, a nice detail to model
2) wooden dunnage is everywhere, this pile next to the truck weigh scale
3) one of several overhead cranes
4) the main crane from the rolling mill

1) a cooling structure for the rolling mill, rollers are water cooled
2) rear end of the rolling mill where the slag is removed, the hoppers hold lime and clay pellets
3) old dust collectors
4) overhead raceway, these are found all over connecting the various buildings (steam is from a cooling pond on a fridged morning)

Nice pics, Rico. I am guessing the switchers are SW-8.

Josh, any more updates on the rolling mill? I like the open end you've done.

Paul
