Hey all i have a growing fleet of Athearn Streamline Santa Fe passengers cars all and all they not crazy detail but it's a good looking train except for one thing the paint car to car is so off. So my plan is to repaint all 12 car and reletter them.

So what I'm looking for is a buffable paint to give these car that really polished look. I've used Mister Metal stainless steel and aluminum but you can clear coat it cause it flattens out the shin.

Any suggestions?

As the saying goes: "You can't polish a turd". Long time ago someone in Model Railroader magazine wrote an article about using aluminum foil to cut shape and glue to the sides creating that fine polished look. You can probably search the net in what year and month that was. But that was definitely a shot in bulls eye when it came to getting that look. It took some work though.
