What are the differences between the two series of locos? Is it simply sound (the quality or quantity)? Are there differences in the motor as well, or anything else? Thanks for any insight?
I have a paragon C&O T-1 and a 2 paragon2 mikados.
I think they are both good, I actually like the QSI sound for steam engines and it sounds good at high speeds (their diesel sounds are not very good, but that has been beat to death on many forums). I dont like that it is lacking BEMF, have to crank up the speed until it moves, and then it takes off.
The paragon2 sound is also good, motor control is improved and it moves off speed step 1, but I cannot figure out how to turn off the momentum feature. I think the QSI whistle is better.
MSRP was about $260, give or take. If you do get them, you can contact Norm at QSI Solutions, and he can sell you an upgrade chip to give you better motor control and better sound. Costs about $40 for that.Ok thanks a lot. I tried emailing BLI and the retailer where I found those two locos but haven't gotten a reply all week. Not quite sure they would be worth the listed price ($225 each).
