Hi,
I'm working on a 5x8 layout. I know it's not ideal, but it works for me. I'm trying to get a better sense of "two destinations" by putting a divider down the middle of the layout. See my diagram below.

The question is, how do I incorporate the transition at the end of the divider? (The dotted circle in the diagram) The divider will be between 18" and 22" high. Should I slope the divider down toward the end? Can I take a backdrop scene and wrap it around the end? Ideas? Pictures would be very helpful.

Thanks,
Doug

Doug, what is the theme of the divider? will it be urban, rural, hills...or what? The pretty well determines how you transition from on sie to another. If it's urban, you can hide it with building flats. If it's hills, you can slope it down into a cut as Tankist suggests. The first thing you have to do is come with a them and decide how to hide the big part of the divider so it blends with both sides of the layout. The transition is actually the easy part.

The side with the turntable will have a train yard industrial theme. The other side is still up in the air. An interesting transition idea could determine where how it goes :)

Keep the ideas coming. Pictures of examples would help me. Visual person.

Thanks,
Doug
