All you want. I was running 4 trains on a 8x10 layout with an EZ-Command without a booster before I upgraded to a Digitrax Zephyr.

Hi Mike, as long as you have enough drop wires to the buss you'll be ok.

Cheers
Willis

Willis is right. I have feeders at every 6 feet and I was powering over 130 feet of nickel silver track with mine. I didn't have any problems.

As a starter system for a person that wants to get thier feet wet with DCC and doesn't yet need to adjust CV's and other esoteric things, the E-Z Command system fills the bill. You can pick them up on-sale and e-bay for $60 or less. It will easily run three trains, is easy to understand, allows you to run one DC engine at the same tiome you're running DC engines, and will control many of the sound effects in sound-equipped locomotives. You will find the need for a more sphisticated system if you stay with the hobby but you can always move up later and all you'll have to do is splice some wires into the track supply wires you already have for the E-Z Command. This is exactly how I sarted and am now usng a Digtrax Zephyr, which is capable of doing a lot of things that can't be done with an E-Z Command. When the time comes that you want to move up, you can sell the E-Z Command system here or on e-bay and either break even or take a slight loss. Well worth it to learn aboout DCC, IMHO.

I still have mine. It's in a box under the layout. If my Zephyr goes down I'll get it out again. I'd have to change some addresses but that's not hard to do.
