...At least that's what my youngest son calls what this loco looks like, Big & Stinky.

I weathered this engine with a combo of airbrushing and weathering powders. These things look pretty rough when you see them these days, so that's the effect I was looking for.

Agreed...its amazing how much detail is brought out when you dull down the sheen on a nicely detailed plastic model.

Then truck detail, for example, instantly "pops." You see detail you never noticed before it was weathered.
 
Nice Weathering. Are all those coal cars Athearn/Walther Bethgons in the background? Any other photos of your layout?

Those are all Walthers Bethgons, 24 total, 4 6packs. I upgraded them to kadees and Intermountain 36" wheels.

Ill put up a couple more pictures of the layout. I have a new one planned however and this one will largely be recycled into that one.
