O.k. my wonderful wife got me an Atlas SD24 lownose witht he tiger stripe ATSF paint job. I already had a Digitrax DH163PS decoder and after I figured out how to get the shell off it was easy enough to install. It works great with but one issue the direction mode is backwards?? I have to put it in reverse to go forward and vice versa for backwards. What did I do?
You soldered the wires to the wrong sides of the motor.
You can switch the wires or change one of the CVs (should be in the paperwork that the decoder came with) to change the direction it thinks is forward.
It was quick plug equipped does this change anything?
It's actually pretty common. Sometimes the decoder will only fit in one way and result in reverse direction. All you have to do is change CV29 for reverse direction operation. Here's a calculator.
The most common value is 35 which is reverse direction, long address, and DC mode disabled.

You plugged the plug in backwards. Remove the plug and turn it around.
