It may be of interest to see the dimensions the Army Corps of Engineers consider necessary for a Wye:

Publication Number: EM 1110-3-150
Title: Engineering and Design - Storage Depots - Mobilization Construction
Proponent: Army Corps of Engineers
Published 09 April 1984

Chapter 6 is titled "Transportation Facilities"

I have read about Wyes of course, but this is the first time I have seen actual numbers. Notice they are using a pair of right and left No. 8 turnouts at the top of the Wye and a No. 8 Equilateral (Wye?) turnout at the bottom.

If I'm 'reading' the diagram correctly .. they are using what would be equal to 42" radius track in HO.

Further down the page they diagram where they want the Locomotive Washing Platform, Inspection Pits, Sanding Station, Fuel Oil Station and Water Tank .. all arranged on a split lead-in to the Wye

well, then theres the space-saver wye done in model railroading that AFAIK isn't used in real life (probably because they'd have to maintain a diamond)
