Here's my latest build. Not based on any particular prototype. It's an Athearn undec. dummy, it will have another powered CF7 to go with it.
Looks good!
The CF7 is one of my favorites! I am a little partial thought because I watched them basically all my life on Ma & Pa/Yorkrail now G&W...

Awesome, can't wait to see more!
Contrary to Ryan, I've always hated CF-7's, knowing how many F units were destroyed to make those monstrosities. Anyway, you're certainly doing your best to make a silk purse out of a sow's ear, Jerome.

Jim,
If they hadn't been made into CF7's they'd have gone under the torch. I have to admit they are bulldog pretty but when you closed your eyes, they had the f unit sound to them.

I watched them replace the Alco S-2's and S-4's on the Santa Fe but grew to like them eventually myself.

She got paint and decals this week. Lot's more detailing to do yet, then heavy weathering.
Looking Good! Glad to see another CF7 getting some love!

What did you use to paint it? Can or Airbrush?
hamltnblue, Floquil Dark Blue, then Testors gloss-coat, decals, then more gloss-coat. Everything is applied with an airbrush.
Nice job, Jerome. It's about as close to a silk purse out of a sow's ear that you'll get.

Very nice work Jerome! Gotta love the proto-bashes!!

Thank you all for your kind words. I have a question on this. This unit has the separate fan blades that get glued in from the underside. Is it right to paint these blades a dull silver??
I usually paint mine silver, sometimes dusting them with black chalk afterwords.
Josh, thanks, silver it is.
Ya know, I never really thought about it until Jerome asked the question but I've seen brand new locomotives with both silver fans, presumably aluminum or stainless steel, and others that were pure black, maybe carbon fiber or some kind of plastic? I've even seen a few CF7's when they were first being built in San Bernardino with primer colored fans. I wonder what really is the most common color and material for radiator fans?
Outstanding. Looks like A&P is expanding from the GP60M fleet! I do like the shortline CF7s, a face only a father can love...or a sow's ear I guess. I'm still laughing on that one.
