So latley ive been messing with the airbursh, water based paints, & enamel paints.

Been giving the weathering a try and heres what ive done so far.

The BN box car is a athearn unit which I think turned out great it was the first one i did out of the two shown.

Second is a cheap bachmann atsf cylindrical hopper that i just started on i think I went a lil heavy on this one, more then I planned to anyways. So i think itll end up a real rust bucket with patches on it for #'s and so on.

Im kinda 50/50 on this one ill do updated pics when im done with it as i need to touch up some areas, & maybe ad some grafiti to cover some finger prints (oops).

Steve add some black and burnt umber to the hopper and it will look like some of the stuff NS hauls around here. Both are well done.

yeah it was grey and i wanted slight rust but went a lil far with the airbrush. So im gonna cover all the grey so it looks like red oxide and like you said ad some black, ect here and there.

thanks, oh yeah and whos steve???

Mike

Mike, looks good!! Your putting that air brush to some good use!!!!

thanks, still got some learning to do and some getting used to on it.

Id like to find more bottles thatll fit the airbrush. So that way if im doing a few different colors, ect I can have em ready.

The BN car was powders only, the hopper is a mix of airbrush, walmart acrylic paint & powders.

thanks everyone for the comments, the more i look at the hopper the more i dont like it.

i think itll get stripped and start over. I find it funny that the BN my first major weathering attempt looks better then the 2nd project the hopper.

The boxcar rocks!!

Don't strip the hopper just yet. Sit on it for a while and see if you can figure out what you did to the hopper that you did NOT do on the boxcar. Then remember that process in the future. You may be able to use it somewhere else, just not in this instance.
