    Is it necessary to adhere weathering powders to ballast?

    I’ve applied weathering powders to my ballast and while the brand I’m using is self-adhering, is it best to seal in the powders with an additional method. If so, how do I do this?

    To ballast or not to ballast......

    I am getting to the point where I am ready to ballast the track on my layout. I plan on using Woodland Scenics ballast. I plan on using a glue/water mixture along with wet water. My question is.... what do you use when you have to loosen/remove ballast in order to work on and /or replace...

    Just picked up a few of the Atlas Hart ballast cars, in a word Great! Thought I'd pose them on a new section of the layout. I can see by the photo there's much weathering to do, of course I could model the day they came out of the shop... nah!
